French Apple Pie


Preparation time: 10 minutes
Total time: 1 hour
Yield: 8 Servings

Ingredients:

  • 1 egg
  • ¼ tsp lemon peel
  • 1 cup sour cream at room temperature
  • Dash of salt
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 1 unbaked pie crust
  • 2 Tbsp flour
  • ¼ tsp vanilla
  • 2 ¼ cup apples, cut and peeled (3-4)

Crumb topping: 

  • ¼ cup butter
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • ¾ tsp cinnamon

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F.
  2. Beat eggs in large bowl. Blend in sour cream, sugar, flour, vanilla, and salt. Fold in apples and lemon peel. Pour into crust.
  3. Bake 10 minutes and then reduce oven temperature to 350°F and bake 30 minutes, or until crust is golden. Sprinkle crumb topping over pie and bake 15 more minutes.
  4. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Crumb topping:

  1. Cut butter into sugar, flour and cinnamon.
