Wheat Bread


Preparation time: 25 minutes
Raise time: 1 hour 30 minutes
Cook time: 30 minutes
Total time: 2 hours 30 minutes
Yield: 4 loaves (using 9x5" pans)

Ingredients:

  • 2 Tbsp. yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 4 1/2 cups hot water
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1/2 cup honey 
  • 2 Tbsp. salt
  • 8 cups whole wheat flour

Directions:

  1. Dissolve yeast in warm water with sugar.
  2. In stand mixer, combine hot water, oil, honey, and salt (scant). 
  3. Add in foamy yeast mixture, mix together and add enough wheat flour until dough pulls away from sides of bowl, about 8 cups.
  4. Knead in mixer for 10 minutes then form into loaves. Let raise for 1 1/2 hours. 
  5. Bake 350°F for 30 minutes.
