Raise time: 1 hour 30 minutes
Cook time: 30 minutes
Total time: 2 hours 30 minutes
Yield: 4 loaves (using 9x5" pans)
Ingredients:
- 2 Tbsp. yeast
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 4 1/2 cups hot water
- 1/2 cup oil
- 1/2 cup honey
- 2 Tbsp. salt
- 8 cups whole wheat flour
Directions:
- Dissolve yeast in warm water with sugar.
- In stand mixer, combine hot water, oil, honey, and salt (scant).
- Add in foamy yeast mixture, mix together and add enough wheat flour until dough pulls away from sides of bowl, about 8 cups.
- Knead in mixer for 10 minutes then form into loaves. Let raise for 1 1/2 hours.
- Bake 350°F for 30 minutes.
